Clear Answers for Teen Dance Families

Quick answers to common questions about our Teen Dance & Pointe: Level 6 (Ages 13 & Up) program.

How is placement for Pointe determined?

Pointe work requires significant ankle strength, core control, and structural maturity. Our instructors evaluate dancers individually during Ballet 6 classes to ensure safety and readiness before approving a student for Pre-Pointe or Pointe work.

Can my teen join if they are new to dance or coming from another studio?

Yes! We welcome new teen dancers and transfers. Teens brand new to dance begin through our supportive "Fundamentals" placement track to learn foundational steps, while experienced transfers are placed following a brief skill evaluation.

What if my teen plays a school sport or has seasonal activities?

We encourage well-rounded teens! Our schedule offers flexible weekly options so your student can balance dance training with school sports, band, or academic commitments.

What are the dress code requirements for Level 6?

Enrolled dancers wear Black leotards for Ballet and Pointe, street clothes with clean sneakers for Hip-Hop, and leotards with caramel shoes for Jazz and Tap. Activewear is fine for initial trial classes.

Are performance opportunities available for teen dancers?

Yes! All Level 6 students perform in our annual Spring Showcase at the end of May. It is a major highlight of the year where teens celebrate their artistic achievements on stage. Costume details ($100 per class) are finalized by December 10th.

Is this competitive dance?

No. Elevate is a non-competitive, community-centered recreational studio. We focus on technical excellence, personal confidence, and performance joy without the pressure or cost of travel competition teams.
